Why are they sooo expensive!!!

Ounce you live alone you notice how expensive everything is. I never knew groceries are so expensive. Ive lived alone for a long time now. The first two and a half years I lived in my stepdad"s condominium so I didn't have to pay rent. I was not occupied anyways so I stayed there for free. Plus living alone doesn't really cost that much. Since I don't really eat a lot I barely had to make trips to the grocery store. Life was good. Now I have been living with my boyfriend for over a year and a half. It hasnt been easy. I work full time and there still is never enough money. I have no idea what to do anymore. I cant get another job because I already have work full time and school full time, there is just not enough time in the day. Hopefully the summer will come soon and Ill be able to save some money while school is out. Another thing that is increadebly expencive are the books!! Ive spend over 600 dollars on ooks alove this semester. Why are they sooo expesive!!

I hate winter...

As I mentioned before I take public transportation to and from work. It is a pain in itself but I believe it is the best way for me to get around. I was working in a location I haven't worked before which was fun and exciting in itself. Everything was fine until I ended my shift. Since I never traveled in the Morton Grove suburbs before I wasn't familiar with their pace buses. As I found out the pace buses ( at leas in my case) don't run past 7 PM. I had to walk for about an hour in this freezing weather to get to the closest Metra station, on my way there I fell on the sidewalk covered with ice. Fortunately I got out with only a some butt hurt. I cant wait till this weather is over I dont think I can take three more months of this.

no time for fitness..

I have heard of the freshman 15. They say that most freshman gain weight their first year of college. This is my second year at Triton college and I also have gained some weight. Before starting Triton I always had a gym class in school. I took that for granted. I used to believe that it should be up to the student if they want to take gym class or not. Now my opinion has completely changed. I miss having gym. I was always fit and didn't think I need to exercise. I didn't put on that much weight maybe 10 lb but it still makes a difference. My body doesn't look the same as it used to. I tried going to the gym everyday. I worked part time which made it easier for me to maintain work, school, and going to the gym. Now that I work full time and I'm a full time student I haven't stepped into the gym in 2 months. There is just not enough time in the day. Also my eating habits switched from eating healthy small portions every 3 to 4 hours to eating fast food twice a day and unhealthy snacks at home. I really need to figure out how to balance everything out. I have my school and work pretty much worked out but I am still struggling with putting my health into the equation. I was wondering if anyone has the same problem and some good ideas that can help me out.

If you use the cta....

I take the cta to work almost every day . It's not bad enough that they raised the prices of the fairs, it used to be 1.75$ for a pass that you can use up to 3 times. Then they eliminated the passes so now you had to pay 1.75$ per bus ride. After that I think that the prices raised to 2.00$. Now the prices have reached 2.25 $ per ride! To take 2 buses you have to spend almost 5 bucks or get a 1 day pass for 5.75$, if i'm not mistaken. The one day pass used to be 5$ even. The week pass used to be 20$, now it is at least 23$.
If things getting more expensive wasn't bad enough now starting Feb. 7 most buses and train will have reduced service. They are also eliminating some of the routs. They will eliminate: #X3 King Drive Express #X4, Cottage Grove Express, #X9 Ashland Express, #X20Washington/Madison Express, #X49 Western Express, #53AL South Pulaski Limited, #X54 Cicero Express, #X55 Garfield Express, #X80 Irving Park Express.
So even though we are paying almost twice as much as we did 5 to 7 years ago we get less service than we did then. It does not add up to me. Soon it will not be worth the time and money to take the public transportation. If you would like to find out more about what routes will be affected please

flats + winter = trouble

I have a warning for all the people that decide to wear flats or any light shoe during the winter for a long time. It is not a good idea, I found that out myself yesterday. If I knew then what I know now I would not have done it.

I work at a spa down town Chicago. Since it has been open only three weeks, we are still trying to let people know that we exist. That's where I come into the picture. Even though my job title involves working the front desk, lately I've been standing outside and giving out flyers. Since I have to wear all black at work and all my winter shoes are brown I had to wear flats.

After a couple days of freezing my toes outside my left foot started to hurt. My foot was hurting to the point that it was painful to even walk. I figured that it got somehow sprained while I was walking up and down the stairs all day showing people around the spa. I tried to stay off of that foot as much as I could the next day.

The second day my foot seemed to hurt more. It came to the point that I could not even touch the bone right below my big toe. For some reason only that area seemed to really hurt, whichmade it really hard for my foot to bend. I found that really odd, I decided to get it checked out. My mysterious hurting came out to be arthritic infection.

According to http://arthritis.webmd.com/ it as a "autoimmune disease that causes chronic inflammation of the joints. Rheumatoid arthritis can also cause inflammation of the tissue around the joints, as well as in other organs in the body." If you don't start wearing warmer shoes after a longer period of time your fingers or toes can start to curl, than the only option you have is surgery. I know that I don't want my feet or hands to look like those with rheumatoid arthritis. So from now on I will make sure that my feet and the rest of my body stays warm during these cold days.
